What is uQuran?

uQuran (read: Micro Qur'an) is the new touch-based Quran software we've been working on for several months (approximately 7-8 months) for hand-held mobiles (apart from iPhone and Android as these already offer iQuran).

What's so special about uQuran? It's pleasant to look at (follows visual guidelines from iQuran for iPhones/Android) and most of all, it's the only Quran software of its kind. Not only does it support all kinds of touch-screens, it has been developed from ground-up using hand-tailored visual controls and the Arabic Font.

uQuran will offer the Qur'an in full Othmani Text (much larger font than Qur'an Reader) alongside its verse by verse translation (the same way we did with Quran Reader, iQuran, Qir'at Reciter etc) in a trimmed down, screen-aware (i.e. will adjust automatically on a large set of screen sizes) interface borrowed from iQuran. We also aim to include audio playback in uQuran but cannot say at this time.

Why the name uQuran? 'u' is the mathematical symbol for Micro. uQuran was designed and developed keeping all sorts of mobiles in mind (Blackberries, Nokia, Samsung, LG etc), much of which will be very low on resources (Memory, CPU etc); thus the name. uQuran was also made screen-aware, so that it automatically adjusts its user interface based on the different screen sizes there are in the market today (every other mobile has a different screen size - this makes it almost impossible to keep an app's design consistent).

When will uQuran make its debut? uQuran is now available for download here
