What is a Phonetic Search Engine? Why use phonetics with the Quran?

Phonetics represent vocal sounds of a word. For example, the words "Muhammad", "Mohammad", "Muhammed", "Mohammed" etc sound all alike. However, when spelled, this name may have several spellings. Some even mis-spellings.

The issue arises where a person searching the Quran does not know or is not aware of how the translator spelled a particular word, especially names. Such as "Shaytan", "Satan", "Shaitan" and so on. If you're looking for "Shaitan", chances are you won't get any results if that spelling isn't used in the translation you're performing the search on.

With a Phonetic Quran Search Engine, that problem disappears. You search for words with your particular spelling and we still find you the right verse(s). This is a very powerful tool when performing searches on a variety of translations on a particular topic.

Please Note: Our Phonetic Search Engine is currently going through an upgrade phase and may not return results/spelling suggestions until further notice.
