Sync of iQuran (from App Store) with iTunes takes a very long time

UPDATE (11th October 2008): The paragraph below applies to iQuran v2.1.2 and below. The following applies to v2.2: v2.2 aims at solving this problem. As mentioned below, this is really not an iQuran issue and is a problem with iTunes or the iPhone/iPod Touch firmware. However with feedback from Apple it was certain this wouldn't be fixed any time soon. So we've now re-written and re-designed the internal architecture of iQuran's Surah Management to work around the problem. It should in future take very little time inshAllah for syncs compared to times in the past and should hopefully resolve other issues around updating iQuran and then losing all data etc. Do note however that once v2.2 comes out, you will HAVE to uninstall the previous version and install the new version from scratch to make it work correctly. iQuran v2.2 is very different from previous versions. In case of iQuran Pro, delete the version you have, tap "Buy Now" from the App Store again to download a FREE copy (You are not billed twice).

Basically there's no way around this problem. iQuran can take a lot of disk space (depends on how much data you download) ~ 1 GB at least if two reciters are installed. The sync process can take a very long time but there's unfortunately nothing we can do about this, many companies and apps are having this issue with iTunes. You should however note that the sync only takes long the first time you download the surahs and sync with iTunes. Subsequent syncs are instantaneous.

You can avoid long syncs for iQuran completely by clicking on the Applications tab in iTunes and deselecting iQuran for Sync.

The above of course is not ideal as in case you wipe out the firmware, you will need to download the files again, however this is the only option one has for now as the speed of the sync is out of our control unfortunately.

Possible Solution: Someone has posted a possible solution, please look into this as this will drastically reduce the time it takes to backup. Basically this 'solution' prevents Application backups:

UPDATE (20th Sept 2008): We have been in touch with Apple regarding the issue. Apparently they thoughts its fixed in 2.1 but the problem exists and iQuran triggered the 'bug'. They have acknowledged the problem and will possibly fix this in an upcoming update. So this basically means: 1. It's not our fault! 2. They will investigate it (taking iQuran as an example) 3. Please be patient inshAllah.
