It takes a long time to load/startup Groups. Can this be improved?

Groups v1.1 should be significantly faster than its predecessor. We've added and made a lot of changes which should greatly improve start up speed as well as overall usage experience.

Most notably, people with very very large address books (3000 contacts or more) were previously taking almost 2 minutes to load. It now takes under 19 seconds to load such a large address book. Yes, 19 seconds too is a long time, however due to several limitations of the phone itself (and the amount of work required to setup Groups), 19 seconds is squeezing every last drop of speed out of Groups. Note however that address books with contacts in the range 0 to 1000 will now load even faster. Start up time should have halved if not less.

Tip: However, if you wish to further lower the start up speed, select any normal group (which has contacts in the range 0 to 1000 or less) before you exit Groups. This will reduce the overhead of loading the 'All' group at startup which normally always is the bit that takes longer to load (since 'All' has all the contacts). So even with a 4,000 contacts address boook, starting with a smaller group (Groups automatically remembers the last group accessed), start up time would almost be around 7-9 seconds compared to 20-25 seconds.
