I see duplicate entries of all contacts and groups |
| If you are seeing contacts or groups twice (and are using OS 3.0), you may be a victim of 'double synchronization' in OS 3.0. The new OS synchronizes calendar and contacts with iTunes as well as Mobile Me. If you have both syncs ON, then you are likely to see contacts and groups twice in Groups: Drag & Drop. Please turn off synchronization in iTunes and keep syncs only with Mobile Me to resolve this. Several users had similar issues (using other 3rd Party softwares) and were able to solve the problem this way. If this does not solve your problem, please let us know by writing to us. A user mentioned the following, try this at your own risk! "I deleted all the contacts that were on my iPhone (by dragging them to the trash) but not on Mobile Me, then restored the deleted contacts, re-synced, and it appears to have worked." Another user shared the following steps with us: i) Swtich off Contacts synchronization in iTunes ii) delete the MobileMe account on the iPhone; choose 'yes' when asked  to delete contacts from mobile me iii) add the MobileMe account back to the iPhone; then either... a) if you choose to keep sycned via MobileMe- when the account is  added back and you switch on the mobileme contacts synch in the set up  screen, iPhone will ask if you want to 'merge contacts between  MobileMe and iPhone; choose 'yes'.  That will remove the duplicates  (assuming you keep iTunes sync switched off). b) if you choose to keep sycned via iTunes - switch off mobileme contacts sync in the iphone account set up screen - switch on contacts sync on itunes iphone set up screen; there should  be no duplicates at this point as you have deleted the mobileme  entries in step ii) above. NOTE: Apple is aware of this firmware bug and will hopefully fix it in v3.1 (note: NOT 3.0.1 but 3.1 which is coming soon) |
