I read one some website that a particular e-code is Haram. Why is it Depends on yours?

Many websites out there are unfortunately plagued with copy/pasting ingredients and their status from one another. At times some website owners simply think everything is haram.

If you think you saw an e-code mentioned Haram on one website and you saw "Halal" or "Depends" on ours, then chances are the ingredient is really either Halal or Depends.

Depends basically means that the emulsifier can be derived from two sources: vegetarian, or a haram source (such as an animal not sacrificed in an Islamic manner). Emulsifiers such as these normally always mention their source on products. However if a source is not mentioned, consider it Haram. If a Halal source is mentioned, then obviously that emulsifier is halal to consume.
