How do I use the Qibla Compass? |
| Qibla compass allows one to determine where Qibla is relative to the
position of the sun. Magnetic compasses are inaccurate as the magnetic
fields shift around the world (even more in recent years due to the
number of electronic appliances). For this reason the most accurate
direction can be determined from the position of the sun in the sky. 1. Simply switch on Qibla Compass and make sure that it's daytime (as it only supports the sun and not the moon so if the sun has set, you will not be able to determine the direction from the Sun, however you will still be able to tell the direction from TRUE north. By the way, Prayer Times Pro for Mobiles include direction from the moon). 2. Hold the phone in front of you resting horizontally on your palm - just as you would if you were reading a SMS message. 3. The compass on the screen will have two images, one of the Sun and one of Kabah. Ignore the one for kabah for now. 4. Look up at the sky and locate the sun. Now by rotating the mobile on your palm such that the image of the sun on the mobile points directly towards the actual location of the sun in the sky, i.e. the sun icon on the mobile is pointing straight at the sun, you will be able to determine the direction of kabah from where you stand, relative to the sun. |
