How do I install the Signed version of uQuran on my Mobile? |
|
IMPORTANT: If your mobile has the 'Android' Operating System, please download iQuran from the Market or SlideMe.org (using the SAM application manager) instead as uQuran is not compatible with Android. Instructions include installation on: * Blackberries * HTC/Windows Mobile/Pocket PCs * Nokias * Other Phones Installing the SIGNED version of uQuran ======================================= The following applies also to the 'NotSigned' version of uQuran however the 'Signed' version should ONLY be installed as described below: Since there are hundreds of mobiles and their models out there, we'll summarize this for a handful of generic phones there are in the world today: Blackberries: You MUST install uQuran by downloading the Blackberry version of the files from our website and then using the 'Blackberry Desktop Manager' software (available for free from www.Blackberry.com) or it won't function correctly. Do NOT install via WAP or any other way (you may however install from the App World) is it won't work as desired. Using the Desktop Manager will ensure you get a digitally Signed copy of uQuran (signed by Blackberry, RIM) that gives certain permissions/trust to the application in order to play audio/display translations. ----------------------------------- HTC/Windows Mobile/Pocket PCs: Nowdays all Windows Mobile powered phones come with a 'JVM'/'MIDlet Manager'/'Java Software' pre-installed. This will be required in order to install uQuran. Note, some Samsungs powered by Windows Mobile may NOt be able to run uQuran due to an older version of JVM. Switching to a different JVM will not be covered in this article. You can either install uQuran using WAP (pointing your mobile browser to http://wap.guidedways.com) or install it manually: 1. Download the uQuran ZIP file and uncompress to reveal two folders: 'signed' and 'notsigned'. Open the 'signed' folder to find a '.jad' and a '.jar' file 2. Simply connect your phone to your PC 3. Double tap on My Computer and then 'Mobile Device'. Copy the downloaded jad and jar files to your device. 4. From the device, use the 'File Manager' software to navigate to the place you copied the files to (usually in 'My Documents'), tap on the uQuran.jad file (Note: NOT the .JAR file) to install ----------------------------------- Nokia: DO NOT install using the Nokia PC Suite! You must NOT install using the PC Suite software as it only allows you to install the .JAR file (e.g. uQuran.jar) and NOT the .jad file. In order to ensure that the Signed version of the midlet is installed, the Phone needs to install via the JAD file! There are two ways to do this: You can either install uQuran using WAP (pointing your mobile browser to http://wap.guidedways.com) or install it manually: 1. Download the uQuran ZIP file and uncompress to reveal a '.jad' and a '.jar' file 2. Simply connect your phone to your PC 3. Double tap on My Computer and then see if your mobile's External Memory/Internal Memory was mapped as a device. This would normally be your phone's model name, such as 'Nokia N97'. 4. Try to look for a 'installs' or 'installation' or 'install' folder on the external drive of the phone. Copy the jad and jar files from the 'signed' directory to the 'install/installation/installs' directory on the memory card. If you can't find the directory then copy the files to any directory 4. Use your phone to navigate to that location on the Memory card (normally you'd use the File Manager software found in 'Organiser' category OR open 'Application Mgr' in 'Settings' and it should locate the new JAR and JAD files you copied). Then tap/select the 'uQuran.JAD' file (note NOTE the .Jar file!) to install once you've located it from the phone ----------------------------------- Other Phones: The safest thing to do would be to install via WAP. Simply point your mobile's browser to our WAP portal http://wap.guidedways.com and install uQuran from under the Islamic Softwares Section. If you wish to however install the files manually, please refer to the 'HTC' section above and try to perform similar steps. Essentially depending upon the Mobile and model you have, you will have to: 1. Plug-in your mobile into your PC 2. Find and navigate to the mounted drive of your Mobile's internal or external memory card 3. Copy the files you find under the 'signed' folder to any where on the memory card (ig your memory card has a kjava or a install directory, copy them there) 4. Now go back to your phone and navigate to the place you copied the files (using the phone's File Manager software) and select the uQuran.jad file to install ----------------------------------- IF IN CASE THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS FAIL ON YOUR MOBILE, TRY THE SAME STEPS WITH THE FILES FOUND UNDER THE 'notsigned' DIRECTORY. NOTE: Some mobiles may not allow you to install uQuran or may not support uQuran. Try the zipped 'unsigned' versions instead (and these can be installed via the Nokia PC Suit where you have a Nokia for instace). If both versions fail, then your mobile most probably has no support for uQuran. |
