Why is it that Muslims (as one Ummah) could not be united in the beginning and end of Ramadan, when in fact our Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) clearly mentioned in His Hadith that we should begin fasting when one muslim sees the new moon. Why some Muslims in Pakistan or in London or in Philippines do not starts their fasting when for example Saudi Arabia or any other Muslim country announces that they have seen the new moon, and at that time the Muslims in these countries have enough time to catch-up with the time difference. Do they have different new moon?
Guided Ways: It is largely accepted by numerous scholars of Islam that Eid/Ramadan etc and every other month (not just eid and Ramadan!) should be observed according to local observation. On in certain cases where there is no observing body and is largely a non-muslim state is when it becomes permissible to observe according to nearby countries. |
